The mattress

A mattress height is the starting figure. A topper adds its thickness to it and a quilted cover has to reach around the sum. Ten of the eleven mattress listings state a height. The one without drops out of every depth check on this site: Nectar Queen Mattress, Gel Memory Foam.

Size names come next, and they are words, not measurements. A listing that says Twin and a listing that says Twin XL describe different lengths: the Better Sleep Council gives a twin as about 75 inches long and a twin XL as 5 inches longer. Where a mattress listing here prints its own outline, the outline is shown beside the name.

Feel words sit in several titles. They are the seller’s description, quoted where they appear, and this site neither ranks them nor matches them to anyone.

The eCFR text of 16 CFR Part 1632 defines a mattress for that flammability standard as ticking filled with a resilient material, and 16 CFR Part 1633 gives its own definition for mattress sets. Those definitions are cited to show that mattress, mattress pad and topper are separate terms in published rules, not to describe any listing.
